Ohh yes, you better hold me to it. In fact, as my personal secretary, you might have to help me get that platypus emoji past all that bureaucratic red tape hehe.
The glitch started happening to me as well in fall of 2024..around October I guess? I wouldn't know also, if not for a couple people who actually alerted me to that. I wrote to Substack several times, to no avail.
Then this thought landed on me -it can be vise versa too, right? so I checked with several newsletters- I wouldn't be geting them either, or only very sporadically.
It's one of most maddenning things here. I mean: look after your basics, while introducing all them bells and whistles with cosmic speed.
Lack of response and support getting much more visible, with AI replacing humans. Yes, the bot will promice to take it to support team, and it will end right there.
Sorry for the vent..I just know how it feels.
Good luck, Michael! Excited about your new beginnings
Ohh Chen! I hear you. And I relate so wholeheartedly. It took a lot for me not to rant and rave in this piece about Substack’s absolute lack of help and tech support with this issue. I did the same stuff — emailed them, DMd them, tagged them, talked to their stupid AI chatbot — all to no avail. In fact, the only way I figured out that the little technique I shared helps is because a computer wizard who’s also writes here on substack helped me troubleshoot. If it wasn’t for him and my diligent substack friends who alerted me to this issue and tried the different things I asked them to to help resolve this issue, I’d be fucked!
Sorry to hear you was also affected Chen. I hope you’ve been able to resolve it.
If you do get a chance to check it out I hope you enjoy it. I just shared an audio recording of one of my first ever posts on Substack from way back in 2023!
Thanks Michael! I saw you subscribed to my YouTube, I appreciate that man. I subscribed to yours as well. I didn’t even know you had one! I’m curious, are some of your videos lectures from your teaching work? :)
Thanks for the subscription then too! Yes, the public-facing stuff there is a few music videos amid mostly Calculus resources. All the personal stuff related to Substack is unlisted.
I love your idea to read the pieces; I’ve done it a few times but only shared the poem. The addition of vocal performance gives every piece a new dimension (and a new potential audience). I’m genuinely excited.
That’s cool! Maybe I’ll check out some of your calculus vids and see if I can understand any of it — it’s been many years since I’ve done any proper math haha.
Yeah it’s exciting to add vocals to the work. I am a little uncomfortable about my vocal presentation — I feel I need to work on my enunciation and delivery, but that’s partly why I’m doing the YouTube, I want to get better at that stuff.
Thanks Michael, as always I appreciate your support. :)
I should have mentioned sooner that TCP has been showing up properly for me the last few months. It comes in on my subscribed feed on my app cause I have email turned off. I think I only missed some at the end of 2024.
For now, you won’t actually see me, you’ll just hear me. I’m too much a scared-cat to show my face, either that, or doing just the audio was easier.
And thank you Donna. That’s very helpful. Half the battle with this glitch has been figuring out who’s actually bene affected. Glad to know your the receiving TCP :)
I’m thrilled about your YT endeavor. Subscribed and am eager to revisit some of those oldies but goodies. (Though in full transparency, I’m a much better reader than I am with A/V. I know I know, what a stupid thing for a filmmaker to say!)
Thanks Kimberly, I really appreciate your support! Some of the oldies I’ll be sharing soon are ones from way back before we’d even met on here, so I imagine they’ll be some stuff you haven’t heard too.
Also, I totally understand about the A/V thing, I am more of a reader than a listener myself.
Thanks for subscribing Holly! Yeah, I just figured some people like to listen, and I want to practice delivering my writing well vocally so why not. And you should totally do it, especially considering how well you already read your work out.
I know, right!? How could they deny the platypus! I appreciate the support too!
And thanks Holly, glad to know the glitch has been resolved for you — yay! :)
Michael, I’ve been mostly away from Substack for the last couple of months. But apart from my break, I don’t think I’ve missed any posts because I read them on the app. Hoping to be back soon! Good luck on the YouTube channel! I’m sure you’re going to be as awesome as ever!
Priya my friend! Good to hear from you. I hope you’re enjoying your break from Substack, and I also hope you coming back soon. I’ve been missing your posts.
And thank you for letting me know your situation regarding the glitch, that’s really helpful.
And thanks for the support on the YouTube, that means a lot. :)
Adapting short stories into audio content is very cool; brings me back to listening to SCP article readings on YouTube.
Thanks Maddie! It still feels a bit weird for me to read my stories out into a microphone — I’m trying to enunciate all proper and stuff hehe.
But it’s a fun endeavour. :)
Love the audio! Congrats on launching your YouTube channel!
Thanks Robin! I’m glad you liked it. And I appreciate the support. :)
Yay! The platypus is migrating. And doing so with such elegance. I will hold you to the emoji, we need it.
Yay! Migrating platypus! Wooohooo! Hehehe
Ohh yes, you better hold me to it. In fact, as my personal secretary, you might have to help me get that platypus emoji past all that bureaucratic red tape hehe.
hehehe, oh yes. I am always at hand for that.
❤️😘🐥
Although I have emails turned off at the mo (overwhelmed) I've never had a prob receiving. Congrats on the YouTube adventure!
Thank you Troy! I’m glad to hear that. Figuring out who’s been affected and who hasn’t had been half the battle!
Also, I appreciate your support on the YouTube endeavour! I saw your comment and I subscribed to your channel too! :)
Wow YouTube today Hollywood walk of Fame 2030 cool and groove 😎
Hehehe that’s the plan. Thanks Emmett! :)
We ride at dawn!! 🗡️ (on June 4th, next year)
Hahaha hell yeah, Chloe! Glad to know you’ll be riding into this battle with me 💪 🗡️ :)

Email test done. It worked ;)
Yeah it did! All thanks to you and Marco!
You really helped with this one Michael and I really appreciate it brother :)
No prob, bro!
❤️🙏
Can’t wait to check out your YT channel! And sorry about the substack bug 🐛
Thanks Kaylen!
If you do get a chance to check it out I hope you enjoy it. I just shared an audio recording of one of my first ever posts on Substack from way back in 2023!
And yes, fuck that Substack bug haha :)
I’m glad to see you on YouTube! I’ll look forward to hearing your voice against the one I hear in my head while reading :)
Thanks Michael! I saw you subscribed to my YouTube, I appreciate that man. I subscribed to yours as well. I didn’t even know you had one! I’m curious, are some of your videos lectures from your teaching work? :)

Damn the gatekeepers! Platypus for president!

Thanks again, friend! :)
Subscribed to the YouTube! Looking forward to Aussie-accented stories!
Makes me think I might do the same. I will let you lead the way and check in in awhile to see how it's going and then perhaps follow. ;0)
I can't BELIEVE the platypus was denied. For crying out loud. To the platypus in 2026! Count me in if more signatures on the application will help.
And thank you for the tag. I believe the glitch has been fixed.
Thanks for subscribing Holly! Yeah, I just figured some people like to listen, and I want to practice delivering my writing well vocally so why not. And you should totally do it, especially considering how well you already read your work out.

Platypus Declined - the saddest words in the English language!
I know right!? It’s just wrong I tell ya!
Thanks April! :)
Of course there’s an emoji government. Haha. Can you create your own on ChatGPT?
Congrats on the YouTube channel!
Hmm, I guess I should try that. Either way, though, I want the platypus to get its offical title hehe.
Thank you Carisa :)
