We have quite recently adopted this at work as part of our email system. I had little idea what it did except that maybe it had something to do with AI. No thank you. Outside of having some AI assist with grammar and spelling suggestions....nope.
I love having to consider the possibility that we usually have a lot in common with the things we fear the most and ChatGPT is no different. As cheesy as it sounds, I like to pretend that the rock and roll ancestors are speaking to me right before I start writing a new article. Whether or not that's true is beside the point as it becomes a helpful meditation to get me "in the zone." The overlords haven't steered me wrong yet, ha!
Thanks Songs That Saved Your Life that’s a great way of putting it - I think it’s good to consider that we have a lot on common with what we fear as well.
And I don’t think that’s cheesy, anything that can help get you into the zone to write is great. I sometimes ask ‘The Muse’ to help me out with my writing.
And thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
Woah! Kind of like the idea that ideas are their own entities, and engage with us, and when we open ourselves to ideas and creating, they flow through us! Interesting read...
That's intense! The mind is a curious organ if that's what we call it. We do have some shared ways of thinking about things, like the beauty of a sunset or the sweet smile of a baby. Makes me believe in humanity. Great read!
I have a non-profound thought to your rather profound post Michael. But I have to say—every now and then, I wonder if we're just in a giant game of The Sims. But then I guess there is no way to know where our thoughts actually come from. So who knows! All I know is I really like being in this meat-bag that also enjoys prompting GPT. Loved this post Michael! Totally gave me a fresh perspective as always :)
Haha that's funny the thought crossed your mind too! I'd like to play the sims again one day just for the nostalgia. My meat-suit would enjoy haha. Does your meat-suit enjoy any other games?
Sometimes we have to let the meat-suit have some fun and do what it enjoys haha.
I was never a big gamer but I did play a bit of crash bandicoot, Tony Hawks Pro skater (go figure), and grand theft auto... but never many computer games.
Haha agreed! We do need to indulge the meat-suit every now and then. Yeahh, I played a couple as a kid: Runescape, Crock, and Cluefinders but stopped when I became a teenager. My brother played a lot of games though and sometimes we'd chill and chat as he was playing haha.
That was a great read. Really we don't know where our thought comes from. I guess our subconscious mind plays a much bigger role in our lives than our conscious mind. If you haven't read until I would like to suggest the book "the power of our subconscious mind."

I hear you Robert! It spins me out too

Thanks Eden! I really appreciate you taking the time to read my piece and leave a comment.
And I’m happy to hear you found the idea interesting. Thanks again :)

Thanks for the kind words Sabrina I really appreciate it.
And yes I agree, the mind is a curious thing.
Well. This IS awkward... ;) 🤖🤖🤖
Haha I agree, especially since I supposedly ‘had’ the idea to write this.
Thanks Troy.
I am gladly not doing the GPT thing. Super dangerous. I'm too pro-human to entertain it.
I’m right there with you Marinarena! I’d much prefer to read what a human wrote than what some AI-thing-trying-to-act-like-a-human wrote.
And thanks for taking the time to read and comment :)

Thank you, Renee I’m so glad you enjoyed this piece.
And I love that! One of my friends used to play the Sims a lot and I used to wonder similar things - it’s so crazy that we just can’t know.
And yes, I agree, either way I enjoy this meat-suit.

Great minds think alike ;)

Thanks, Himanshu. I’m glad you liked it.
Yes, I agree I think it plays a huge role. Ohh cool, sounds like an interesting book, I will have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion :)
